Emanuel Lorenz Philipp

Philipp’s early endeavors focused on several successful business ventures. Although originally supporting Robert LaFollette for governor, he later wrote influential books criticizing LaFollette’s progressive programs. Philipp served three terms as governor. He established the Department of Agriculture, the Conservation Commission and a 4-year medical course at UW.
