Edward P. Allis

Starting with the purchase of a bankrupt business, Allis emerged as Wisconsin’s leading industrialist. His company supplied water pipes and pumping engines for Milwaukee’s first water system. Allis had a reputation for fair dealings with his employees and was one of the first to establish an insurance program. The Edward P. Allis Company became Allis-Chalmers Corporation in 1901.
