Daniel Newhall

Newhall’s rise to the largest grain dealer in the “west” coincided with Milwaukee’s emergence as a center for trading and shipping of wheat. His fortunes rose and fell over 30 years with the nation’s economy, politics and the Civil War. After the war, his business declined as the center of wheat production and trade moved westward.
