Herman Falk

Son of Milwaukee beer brewer Franz Falk, started a machine shop in a rented space in his father’s old brewery that had been sold to Pabst Brewery. Early on they made a number of products but became known for high quality gears, generally very large gears. They also developed the herring-bone gear that was stronger the the traditional tooth gear. They were major suppliers of the gears to the U.S. Navy ships. Falk Corporation is still in operation in the Menomonee Valley. Herman’s brother Otto would become President of Allis Chalmers corporation.
