Frederick Vogel (1823 to 1892)

In 1848, Vogel built a small tannery on the banks of the Menomonee River. He sold his leather through Guido Pfister’s store. In 1853, they became partners in the Pfister & Vogel Leather Company. By WWI, it was ranked as the world’s largest leather firm.
