Daniel Wells, Jr.

Reportedly the state’s wealthiest citizen, Wells held large land investments in Milwaukee and points north along the shores of Lake Michigan. Grain and lumber were key holdings. He was also an investor in many early railroads, hotels and banks. Wells held local offices in Milwaukee, served in the State Legislature and was twice elected to Congress.
